An effort by ESPN to promote the football rivalry between the University of Alabama and University of Mississippi may have gone a little too far when the network posted a sexist sign on social media.
Despite the loss, it was Coker's effort and ability to make plays with both his arm and his legs that convinced Tide head coach Nick Saban to name him the starter in Saturday's non-conference game against Louisiana-Monroe. There could be chance to have a pair of Big Ten teams in the College Football Playoff.
Ole Miss came into Tuscaloosa, Ala., with a 1-35-1 record against Alabama on the road, and the Crimson Tide were again a large favorite to beat the Rebels.
"We had nearly fanatic energy but we didn't channel it in the right direction", Saban said on Monday.
Still, it would not be wise to count out the Tide.
Saturday, the Cardinal went to the Coliseum and scored five touchdowns in a 41-31 win over No. 6 USC.
"We've just got to get that depth chart", Elston said.
"Don't panic, there will be one undefeated team out there probably in Ohio State". Well, here they are at 1-2 after losing a second straight home in falling to Texas Tech.
Leonard Fournette and company completely decimated Auburn in a 45-21 victory. Ole Miss will need to avoid the letdown from any hangover they may have after last week's win. But what Alabama hasn't had is an extraordinary quarterback. Johnson threw for 100 yards and his sixth interception of the season.
Coker, meanwhile, ran seven times for 58 yards.
"If that leadership is not consistent and on-going and you want to look in the rear-view mirror, we will wreck".
No. 8 Notre Dame (3-0) seemed to have big problems after quarterback Malik Zaire was lost to a broken ankle last week.
There's also the defense.
That also gives hope to programs like Kentucky as they look to rise to prominence after a dark stretch. Freeze said starting safety Tony Conner is expected to miss the next four weeks after surgery to fix a torn meniscus in his right knee that he suffered against Alabama. Cardale Jones told everybody to relax after yesterday's 20-13 victory over Northern Illinois, but something is clearly wrong with the offense. A dominant defensive performance and linebacker Darron Lee's interception return for a touchdown bailed out the Buckeyes.
"Somebody didn't cover their guy", Saban said. The victor of Vandy and South Carolina might be the only win in SEC play either of those teams get.
Last year, Alabama rebounded from their loss to Ole Miss to eventually win the Southeastern Conference for the fourth time in the previous six seasons, finishing the regular season ranked number one nationally.
Here's the rest of the Top 25 Coaches Poll.
Ole Miss' Chad Kelly leads Power 5 quarterbacks in QBR (92.3), yards per attempt (12.3 yards) and 20-yard completions (17 -- tied with Trevone Boykin). The Tigers receive one first-place vote.
