Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel hasn't arrived, nor has he suddenly set the bar for quarterback play in the National Football Leagueafter getting his first career win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 2.
Today's Tennessee Titans vs. Cleveland Browns NFL football game has a start time schedule of 1:00pm eastern time and airs on TV channel CBS in a fewmarkets along with DirecTV Sunday Ticket as well as a live stream online. Benjamin gashed Tennessee for 269 all-purpose yards in helping the Browns (1-1) win just their third home opener since 1999.
Manziel said before his last pass to Benjamin, he heard Titans defensive end Brian Orakpo curse knowing he had let Cleveland's quarterback outside the pocket where he's risky.
On his first pass, Manziel faked a hand-off, dropped back and hit a streaking Benjamin, who got behind cornerback Coty Sensabaugh for a quick score that ignited Cleveland's crowd and gave the Browns' second-year QB a confidence boost.
The Browns jumped out to an early 14-0 lead as Manziel connected with receiver Travis Benjamin for a 60-yard strike that rivaled last week's 54-yard touchdown pass. "Being good with his cadence, knowing 'Hey, I have to motion here".
Afterward, he said he didn't derive satisfaction from proving his critics wrong.
However, until Josh is cleared, there’s not much thought process there just because (Manziel) is the starter right now with the fact that Josh is out.
To me, I always take trying to pull the negatives out of a victory more than positives out of a loss, he said.
The Cleveland wide receiver scored three touchdowns Sunday. Quarterback Marcus Mariota threw for 209 yards and four touchdowns in 13-for-14 passes. "When you have a rookie quarterback, a rookie tackle, you understand in that type of environment those are issues that you have to go through". "We were fortunate not to turn the ball over there when it was on the ground". "We figured they would bring pressure, and they did".
Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt said he had to alter the offensive game plan in the second half because of Mariota's limited mobility.
The Titans cleaned up their mistakes enough that they were penalized only once in the second half.
"Some of those sacks it doesn't matter what (Mariota's internal) clock was", Whisenhunt said.
Dexter McCluster (TEN) (Running Back): Where Sankey failed, McCluster succeeded, having 10 carries on the day, which racked up 98 yards on the ground.
As reported by Waiting For Next Year, Colin's opening rant last week centered on Manziel's talent, which in Cowherd's mind does not equal the hype that surrounds him. Moreover, for Manziel, he needed this moment now. In wins over the Raiders and Chargers, he's gone 41 of 60 for 483 yards with five touchdowns, no interceptions and no sacks.
