These three Lumia smartphones are the first mobile devices to take advantage of Microsoft latest OS, Windows 10 which has been tailored to give users the best Windows experience on mobile. Lumia 950, 950 XL Earlier, Microsoft unveiled two new phones and a fitness tracker as it continues efforts to reduce its dependence on personal computers and traditional software.
Microsoft claims it twice as fast as the Apple Macbook Pro. Two USB 3.0 ports and an SD card slot are also added in its features. In a move that surprised many, Microsoft went ahead and announced its first actual laptop, the Surface Book.
Termed the "ultimate" laptop by Microsoft, the Surface Book starts at $1,499 for its entry level model equipped with an Intel Core i5 processor and 128GB.
After all, the Surface Book has some impressive specs, including a large 13.5-inch display with high resolution (3000 x 2000 pixels), which means it's likely to consume plenty of power during tablet use.
Responding to a request for information on when Windows 10 would be coming to the Lumia 640 XL and phones like it, Microsoft said that "broad availability of Windows 10 on other devices, including mobile phones, will begin rolling out in December".
Still, Apple has the upper hand in some areas, including maximum storage and display options. Other features of the Surface Book include a removable keyboard, touch screen capability, and a Surface Pen stylus is included in the package. The latest Microsoft tablet is priced at $899.
And according to various reports, many are concerned that Microsoft's evolution in the hardware business could hurt their sales because more buyers would be tempted to purchase a Surface device instead of their own.
Based on what Microsoft said, there seems to be no compromises in the device's full-sized, backlit keyboard, even though it's removable from the screen. Microsoft hopes to have Windows 10 to 1 billion devices and smart phones in 3 years.
