Whenever a Survivor season begins with the same tribe losing the first two immunity challenges, the third episode becomes a tipping point.
Jeff calls the tribes for their immunity challenge. While she and Peter discuss not telling them yet, Debbie is talking with about taking Liz out soon because they still need Peter in the challenges. Deb is in attack mode, spouting warfare terms and calling in the bombers. She thinks Liz is the person that needs to go, and tells Joe her plan.
During the first three episodes, the "Beauty Tribe" has proven to be the best survivor team and are emerging as the one of the most entertaining to watch, with a budding and unlikely "bromance" being played up between quirky gay gardener Tai Trang, originally from Viet Nam, and hunky Army Veteran Caleb Reynolds of Kentucky. Tai doesn't want to do it, but he knows the others want protein, and he want to ensure the death is as painless as possible.
Nick doesn't really care, which makes the women in the tribe distrust him. Anna tells Caleb that the women are sticking together, so Caleb should join them and vote off Nick.
Alecia and Cydney find a clue and they dig. Alecia just walks by and spots a rolled-up piece of paper in a bush. She doesn't know what went on that made her tribe want her to leave. They need to find the key in order to open the box.
Going into this episode, we would have said with the utmost confidence that it would be Debbie who was completely out of her mind during confessionals. All four of them gather under a tall palm and the guys manage to punch the key out of the tube.
Alecia is annoyed. The guys unlock the idol box while Alecia stands right on top of them. Then they have to carry them across a balance beam.
Castaways start out in the water on a float, retrieve rice bags from a boat, squeeze them through a bamboo gate, scurry over it, and work their way back to the beach to sink some balls through the walls.
Winning tribe has the choice of comfort (pillows, hammocks) or love (the special items they brought from home). It came down to just seconds between the Brains and the Brawn. Liz tells Deb to vote for Aubry, but in truth, they are voting off Neal. Debbie, who previously told her teammates she wants to break up Liz's alliance with Peter, tells the cameras she's not following her plan.
Jeff Probst greets them and asks Peter if there were friendships formed. Debbie says Peter is narcissistic and over-exuberant and is trouble for the tribe. She says Neal is a huge risk to keep around, and Aubry doesn't like to talk game. Aubry doesn't see Peter as having emotional intelligence and wants to target Peter. Still, that allows Peter and Liz to stew for an extra few minutes until the revote reveals that Liz is a goner. When Aubry tells Debbie her concerns about Peter, Debbie says the vote will be a "total blindside". Second tribe gets what's left, and the third tribe gets Tribal Council. She's shocked. Peter hugs her and says sorry.
