For Outstanding Drama Series, Game of Thrones will definitely be among the nominees along with Downton Abbey, Orange Is The New Black, House of Cards, Mr. Robot, Better Call Saul and The Good Wife.
And yes, the snubs - those inevitable oversights that can be read either as an Emmy error, or Emmy validation. For my work on "Game of Thrones" to be recognized in this way is an emotional moment for me. Aziz Ansari and his "Master of None" on Netflix got major nominations in the comedy categories; Tracee Ellis Ross of "black-ish" finally got her (deserved) nod; "The History Channel's "Roots" got a nomination for limited series too".
"Game of Thrones" has received the most nominations for this year's Emmys.
Actor, Drama Series: Bob Odenkirk, "Better Call Saul"; Kyle Chandler, "Bloodline"; Kevin Spacey, "House of Cards"; Rami Malek, "Mr. Robot"; Liev Schreiber, "Ray Donovan"; Matthew Rhys, "The Americans".
For the Outstanding Lead Actress in a drama series: Robin Wright, Julianna Margulies, Viola Davis, Taraji P. Henson, Claire Danes, and Tatiana Maslany. The reading of the Emmy nominations is about to begin.
In contrast to the Academy Awards, slammed for overwhelming whiteness, the 68th Emmy nominations to be announced Thursday could play to TV's strength, its relative willingness to give more viewpoints and more people, including minorities and women, a seat at the table. To get into the theater, reporters had to walk down a long hallway with a red carpet that leads into the expansive new space, which sports plush red chairs with armrests.
"Game of Thrones" and "Veep" are among the top contenders for the 68th Primetime Emmy nominations.
He and the critically acclaimed comedy series could be getting a lot of TV academy love if voters keep pace with the medium's increasing diversity. Among the possible contenders include the TV sitcom "black-ish", the transgender comedy "Transparent" and the Asian-American family comedy "Fresh Off the Boat".
The nominations will be announced live on Emmys.com at 11:30 a.m. EDT. Thrones co-stars Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) went head-to-head in the Supporting Actress in a Drama category, eventually losing out to Orange is the New Black's Uzo Aduba.
