Allardyce has yet to be contacted by the Football Association over the role amid reports that he would be interviewed this week.
"I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him", Gold told BBC Radio 5 live.
The Football Association have given no indication that they will look exclusively for English candidates for the England manager's job, but having only ever appointed two foreign coaches to varied success, a man with vast Premier League experience may be preferred.
The Black Cats expect Allardyce to succeed Roy Hodgson as England manager and may try and tempt Moyes back to the Premier League, according to the Telegraph. Allardyce has now been named as the favourite to be his replacement.
With the governing body being accused by Sunderland on Wednesday of "damaging" their pre-season preparations and urged to "bring about a swift resolution to this matter", it is thought Klinsmann may be interviewed in the next 48 hours.
Who is the man to turn the England football team into one to be proud of?
"That's gone. For me to be interested in the England job, Roy would probably have to leave at the end of the Euros".
Allardyce's pitch for the job in 2006 also included a secure communications system which would allow players to download their programme for worldwide get-togethers while still at their clubs. "He knew what he needed to do and all he needed was the resources to do it".
"The atmosphere he will create will be similar to Wales or Iceland... that spirit, that togetherness, along with the ability that we have a lacked", said Davies.
"He never did things by half measures". So, while it's understandable that Sunderland are put off by the distraction, it'd also be helpful if they didn't take it personally.
Reports have suggested he had already held preliminary talks with the FA, but Press Association Sport understands the former Bolton, Blackburn and West Ham boss is unaware of any impending appointment this week.
Eriksson's assistant Steve McClaren got the job instead but he failed to guide England to qualification for the 2008 European Championship.
Fr Joe added: "It's time he had a little visit to Lourdes with me and as a result of the spiritual experience, his players will walk on water for him!"
