For its self-interest, the United States insidiously directed Philippines Aquino III government to initiate the so-called South China Sea arbitration and strengthened its military ties with Japan, Australia, Philippines and Vietnam to draw other claimants to contain China and desperately muddy the waters.

It has repeatedly said it will not change its approach or its sovereignty claims in the South China Sea.
Meanwhile, China's maritime administration said it would close off access to part of the South China Sea for military drills this week. "Let's manage it on that basis", Yasay said.
Despite the public assurances given by the USA government, the Philippines had gone at it alone as far as arbitration is concerned and, thankfully, it does not lack for legal luminaries like Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio, who worked overtime raising public consciousness on the importance of the country's claim to Scarborough Shoal and the rest of the land and waters that fall within our territory.
Wang responded by saying China was open to discussing that possibility with the Philippines "but not in the context of the arbitral tribunal ruling", Yasay said.
China had asked the leaders not to discuss the ruling, but the matter was frequently addressed.
The People's Liberation Army (PLA) Air Force will conduct combat air patrols in the disputed South China Sea on regular basis.
The head of China's navy has said it will push ahead with island-building in the South China Sea despite a landmark ruling last week which quashed its claims over virtually all of the waters.
