Republican Donald Trump has entered the final phase of his high-profile search for a running mate, arranging last-minute meetings with his finalists and family members as his staff prepares for a Friday announcement.
Pence boarded a private jet Monday afternoon at Indianapolis International Airport with his wife, Karen, and one of his daughters for the trip to the Republican National Convention.
Christie said he swung his support to Trump - whom he has known personally for years - in February after seeing him connect with people across the U.S.in a way he hadn't seen before.
Trump's choice of Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate was overshadowed by a terror attack in France and attempted coup in Turkey. As The Washington Post's Amber Phillips wrote in an excellent sketch of Pence, some conservatives "thought he backed off last year's religious freedom debate under pressure from liberals". "He's entitled to make a mistake every once in a while", Trump said.
CLEVELAND, Ohio-The Republican National Convention kicks off tonight, but Indiana Republicans are waiting for Wednesday. Trump complained that the CNN guests are "stacked for crooked Hillary" and that Fox News Channel is "much better and far more truthful than CNN".
Christie gave his first public comments since Trump's decision after a private speech Sunday at a hotel near where Republicans are gathering for this week's convention in Cleveland. "[Speaker of the House] Paul Ryan called me up immediately and said, 'What a great choice, '" Trump says.

Clinton, however, is not, Trump said. Trump said in a Tuesday interview with The Wall Street Journal that Sessions, Trump's top Senate advocate, is also still in the mix. Priebus says that's when Trump will likely speak at the GOP convention, which starts Monday.
Pence is then seen leaning toward Trump, who waves his hand and tells him, "You could say yes".

Hillary Clinton's campaign is launching a major voter mobilization drive during the Republican National Convention. Trump says Ivanka is "a very talented person" and that that some people had even suggested her as his vice presidential running mate, "but Mike [Pence] it is".
He laid out the case that events such as the attempted coup in Turkey are a direct effect of the leadership of Clinton when she served President Obama as Secretary of State. Delegates also will consider and vote on the rules of the convention.
