Ms Ivanka Trump, the eldest daughter of Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and perhaps the most poised and articulate defender of his character and ideas, introduced her father as "a fighter" who will "fight for you". "Death, destruction, terrorism and weakness". Ted Cruz who said it best in his convention speech on Wednesday night: "Vote your conscience".
We're in danger; from ISIS, from terrorism, from immigrants and from his competitor if she happens to win.
'I have a message for all of you: the crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end, ' Trump said.
Sessions said Trump shouldn't worry about Cruz but instead be clear about the challenges facing America and how to meet them. "You know, Hillary Clinton wants a better title and I would too if I was already America's secretary of the status quo".
Clinton, who is expected to be formally nominated by her party at its convention in Philadelphia next week, has led Trump most of the year in the poll.
On Wednesday night, he emerged in the convention hall while Cruz was still speaking, a move that appeared meant to steal some attention away from the senator. "That's why only I can fix it".
Still, he set aside much of his usual bravado.
When the crowd chanted "Lock her up!", he told them: "Let's defeat her in November".
With Mr Trump's wife Melania being a reluctant co-campaigner, it was left to his daughter to introduce him when he announced his once seemingly improbable candidacy in June previous year. He cares deeply about things like affordable childcare, equal pay for equal work and student debt.
"We are also going to appoint justices to the United States Supreme Court who will uphold our laws and our Constitution". But some in the IL delegation were taken aback by the booing and the general negativity surrounding Cruz's speech. Yet he also accused her of "terrible, bad crimes" and said her greatest achievement may have been staying out of prison. "My opponent, on the other hand, has supported virtually every trade agreement that has been destroying our middle class", he said.
Leading Republicans and world leaders reacted swiftly Thursday after the comments were published.
He told Inside Edition the Trump family was "disapointed" with Cruz, adding: "Senator Cruz signed the same pledge all the other candidates did".
Cruz's speech was another stumble at a convention marked by several missteps, including a speech by Trump's wife, Melania, that included lines similar to those in a 2008 Democratic convention speech by President Barack Obama's wife, Michelle.
Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine has emerged as the leading contender to join the Democratic ticket as Clinton's running mate, according to two Democrats, who both cautioned that Clinton has not made a final decision and could yet change directions.
But no vice presidential announcement came.
Only a few hours after tech billionaire Peter Thiel addressed the convention and iterated his pride of being gay and a Republican, Trump decried last month's Orlando nightclub shooting and promised to protect LGBT people in the country which invoked cheers from the crowd.
Jalonick reported from Washington.
