Adam Eaton was apart of both walk-off wins as the White Sox resumed its suspended game from Saturday in the ninth inning on Sunday afternoon. "I don't know", he said. So that's all that matters to me. To get the big hit and have everyone rush out there, especially with what we've had the past couple of days.
Ventura said starting pitchers typically are allowed to choose which uniforms the team wears on days they start. "That's what he does".
Last season, Sale attempted to gain entrance into the Royals locker room following his ejection after a brawl between the teams. He described them as "uncomfortable and unorthodox", noting that he would not feel right pitching with an untucked jersey.
"When I saw that there was something in the way of that 100% winning mentality, I had an issue", Sale said.
"I tried to bring it up and say, 'Hey listen, these are my thoughts and concerns, ' and they got pushed away because of the business deal that was set in place", said Sale to Merkin.
In the time since Sale destroyed the jerseys and was scratched from the lineup, it has been announced that he will have to face a five-game suspension and pay an undisclosed fine, a punishment decided upon by Hanh along with several other members of the White Sox clubhouse. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no statements were authorized.
White Sox players and manager Robin Ventura left most of the discussion surrounding the event to Hahn, who said Sale could offer more details if he chooses when he returns. Sale reportedly objected, saying the uniforms would be uncomfortable to wear on a hot and humid night, and complaining that the team was putting "PR and jersey sales" above winning.
"I've seen a lot of insane things happen in the game, but sometimes emotions get the best of us", he said.
"Guys have seen a lot of stuff and it's about playing", Ventura said. "Later in the day, when he and I sat down and talked face-to-face and he explained the rationale behind his actions, he understood at that time, because of his actions, there was going to be discipline".
It's understandable for a player to put winning over the business side of baseball, even if the throwbacks are fan favorites and may encourage more people to come to the ballpark or watch a game.
Sale, 27, is 14-3 with a 3.18 ERA and 1.00 WHIP, with 129 strikeouts in 133 innings.
Sale said his goal has always been to win a World Series title, and that's why he was was displeased. The trade deadline is August 1.
White Sox ace Chris Sale will make his next start against the Cubs Thursday at Wrigley Field, and Anthony Ranaudo, not Jacob Turner, will start Wednesday. That earned him a five-game suspension.
