Ted Cruz (R-Texas) wrote on Facebook on Friday, Sept. 23, that he plans to vote for Donald Trump, even though he declined to endorse him at the Republican National Convention. "What I do know is that Hillary Clinton fails that test profoundly".
Cruz went on to reiterate the reasoning laid out in his op-ed, including a desire to uphold his pledge to support the GOP nominee no matter what and Trump's new list of 21 potential Supreme Court nominees, whom Cruz believes are "in the mold of [Antonin] Scalia". In addition to sharing an unflattering picture of Heidi Cruz, Trump also implied that Cruz's father was involved in the 1963 assassination of John F. Kennedy.
"I am greatly honored by the endorsement of Senator Cruz".

Upon returning from a commercial break, Beck unloaded on Cruz and his disingenuous justification for endorsing Trump, declaring that Cruz had said things during their interview that Beck personally knows to be untrue.
To keep face, Cruz on Friday described Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton as "wholly unacceptable".
"If somebody said that about my dad, they would never have me as a supporter for anything", Kaine said as he campaigned in Texas.
Cruz showed support for Trump as on the following Facebook post.
But Beck and his crew kept hammering Cruz about his choice to endorse Trump.
Cruz mentioned two precise reasons why he is now supporting Trump: he is a proud supporter of the #NeverHillary movement and he wants to keep his word on a statement he made a year ago that he would support whoever became the Republican nominee.
When Cruz addressed the Republican National Convention in July in Cleveland, where Trump accepted the nomination, he declined to endorse Trump and was essentially booed off stage by the NY businessman's supporters.
Cruz also faced intensifying political pressure from all quarters.
Many Trump supporters such as Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and Fox TV personality Sean Hannity welcomed Cruz's change of heart.
"This is all the information you had in Cleveland", Beck said, unsatisfied by Cruz's answers.
Mr Cruz cited the possibility of Democrats taking control of the US Supreme Court as a major reason why he made a decision to drop his opposition to Mr Trump.
