Drake led the pack with 13 overall nominations and set a new AMA record for most nominations in a single year, surpassing Michael Jackson's 11 nominations in 1984, according to the AMAs.

The other nominees in the top category are arena-packing singers Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande and Rihanna, R&B sensation The Weeknd, alternative pop duo Twenty One Pilots and country star Carrie Underwood.
The American Music Awards/AMAs will be broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on November 20 at 8 p.m. E/P on ABC. If Bieber wins the award he will tie current record hold Taylor Swift for the most wins (3).
The Chainsmokers, DNCE, Alessia Cara, Shawn Mendes and Zayn Malik are all nominated for Best New Artist. These measurements are tracked by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound.
Not only can Drake and Rihanna combine their talents for chart topping music, the two are also leading the charge when it comes to American Music Award nominations.
Voting for the annual ceremony is slated to start in mid-November. Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan are executive producers.
