Prosise exploded down the right sideline for a 72-yard touchdown in the first quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, Thomas Rawls made his way to the end zone and was one of the first people to congratulate his teammate.
Wilson became the first quarterback in franchise history to catch a touchdown, a flawless end-around pass from Baldwin to Seattle's athletic QB as he ran down the left sideline and dove into the end zone to give the Seahawks a 23-7 lead.
Hours later, Rawls found out his teammate had suffered a scapula injury during the game, and that he will now be the one the Seattle Seahawks count on to carry the running game down the stretch.
"The bad thing is that C.J. got hurt today", head coach Pete Carroll said during his postgame press conference.
Carroll said the team didn't know the severity of Thomas' injury. "Just to see him get back to who he is and be out there just made my night". For now, he will not be put on Injured Reserve with the hope that he could at least return for the post-season.
The most serious injury was a fractured shoulder blade by running back C.J. Prosise.
When the injury bug bit starter Thomas Rawls, Michael seized the day and looked to steal the lead back role out from under his ill-fated teammate. Against the Philadelphia Eagles Sunday, Rawls had 14 carries for 57 yards.
"I thought that was a great first game for him", Carroll said. Carroll said a longer-term diagnosis was not yet available.
Running back Troymaine Pope has "a legitimate" high ankle sprain.
It doesn't sound good right now for the former Notre Dame wide receiver who gained 234 yards rushing and receiving, including 142 on the ground, in his two starts the last two games, wins at New England and over the Eagles. "Then he felt a little bit of tightening and we thought, 'Let's not take a chance.' That's when you can really (injure) it badly". "We talked real earnestly about it (over) the weekend". The 5-foot-10, 220 pound wrecking ball out of Texas A&M lasted just two years in the rain-soaked Northwest city before a trade sent him to America's team.
Failing that, rookie Alex Collins is likely to be Rawls' backup this upcoming Sunday at Tampa Bay (5-5) by default.
"I really feel comfortable with him fitting into the offense".
If the Seahawks were truly loving Collins he wouldn't have been a healthy inactive while the undrafted Pope, days after getting promoted from the practice squad, played against the Eagles instead of him. He can do all our stuff, he can play third down, first down, short yardage.
Seattle leads 6-0 in the first quarter.
"I couldn't be more fired up about that, " Carroll said of Wilson's improved mobility.
"We know the tenacity that (Rawls) brings to the run game".
