Shoppers have the chance to try again on December 20th, when Best Buy stores will have a limited, undisclosed amount for those who get in line fast enough.
Current eBay auctions price the NES Mini at around £140, a substantial mark up over its £50 retail price.
It looks like the NES Classic Edition console has been a hit for Nintendo, the device went on sale in the United States last month.
Given the enormous demand for the platform it's not clear why Nintendo didn't build a few more of them or ramp up production more quickly. Combine that with the fact that it only costs $60, and it looks like you've got a recipe for success. Also, it will only be sold in-store and not on Best Buy's online website. How many times have you attempted to purchase the console? And this week, Best Buy is going to play host to said event.
Are you buying an NES Classic Edition once stocks start coming in?
Either way, anyone looking to nail down that final Christmas gift, here's your moment.
NPD report blasted with Nintendo MINI NES number of units sold reached 196,000 in November alone.
It's clear that the NES Classic Edition has struck nostalgia-fueled gold with consumers.
MINI NES is the miniature replica of Nintendo Entertainment Systems (NES) video game console by Nintendo which launched on November 10, 2016 in Australia and Japan, November 11, 2016 in North America and Europe and November 23, 2016 in Russian Federation. Furthermore, the mini NES came in second as the most Googled gaming console of the year behind Nintendo Switch. The unit comes with 30 preloaded games and an NES Classic Controller, which unfortunately bears a vexing short cable problem but one that can easily be solved via third-party controllers.
