Constantine Returns As Animated Series; Hopeful For Live-Action Return

During The CW panel at the winter TCA press tour, the network announced that it will be giving a second life to Constantine on online platform The CW Seed, after the NBC series was cancelled in 2015. The Constantine character was kept alive when, shortly after the series met its end on NBC, Ryan reprised the role on the CW's Arrow. Though Constantine had low ratings, the series did have lots of devoted fans that have been clamoring for its return. Ryan also plays the character in an upcoming animated movie called Justice League Dark.

The animated series will, as with most CW Seed shows, run for five to six episodes that will be about ten minutes each.

In any case, get excited for more Constantine, and let us know in the comments what you would like to see from the rebooted series (about which we don't know any other details yet).

David S. Goyer, who adapted the Constantine character from the DC Comics material with Daniel Cerone, will be an executive producer on the animated series - along with Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. The 13 episodes of season one are already available on CW Seed.

Although Ryan previously appeared in a fourth season episode of Arrow following the cancellation of Constantine, Pedowitz said the network didn't have any plans at this time to bring the character into the main DC universe as part of a crossover event or cameo.
