For starters LG has confirmed that they have done away with the modular system, and now it seems that LG has confirmed what kind of display we will be able to expect as well.
Ready for the 18:9 world?
LG Display to Roll Out 5.7 Inch High-Quality Display Soon: An official announcement has been made by LG on Tuesday that it will be rolling out its 5.7-inch QHD+ LCD panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
The company will supply the panel to LG Electronics for its next flagship smartphone this year. The display ratio has evolved from 4:3, 3:2, 5:3, 16:9 and 17:9, reflecting demand for larger displays to consume multimedia content. In its words, "18:9 aspect ratio is also optimized for multi-tasking, using dual-screen functions". That's 2,880 x 1,440 for a pixel density of 564 pixels per inch (PPI).
The display will also boast LG's own in-TOUCH technology for greater touch performance, eliminating the need for cover glass and reducing the thickness of the G6's LCD panel.
Are you excited about the upcoming LG G6 smartphone with QHD+ resolution display screen?
When compared to the conventional QHD LCDs, the bezel width has been reduced by 0.2 mm on top (20%) and by 0.54mm (10%) on the left and right sides.
The QHD+ panel is also said to be 10% brighter than previous generation displays while remaining far more energy efficient. Outdoor visibility and low-power consumption are major criteria for consumer choices for smartphones.
"QHD+ is expected to maximize users' experience and value by providing ultra-high definition, differentiating it from all other mobile display panels", said Kim Byeong-koo, senior vice president and head of mobile development group 1 at LG Display. "LG Display will continue to set new standards in premium mobile displays, based on its differentiated technology".
