White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer's embarrassing Daft Punk tweets resurface

Now, Dippin' Dots has responded, albeit in a typically corporate way.

In September 2011, after Spicer had joined the Republican National Committee as communications director, he brought back the issue, writing: "I think I have said this before but Dippin Dots are notthe ice cream of the future (sic)".

The new press secretary - thrust into the meme spotlight on social media this weekend after a press briefing where he insisted that Trump's inauguration drew record crowds - has intermittently tweeted criticism of the freeze-dried ice cream company over the course of five years.

It's their schtick and it's worked for years, earning them multiple awards and chart-topping songs-but according to Donald Trump's press secretary, they 'need to grow up'.

The A.V. Club noticed a borderline obsession on Spicer's Twitter with the caviar of ice cream, which he's vehemently disliked for at least seven years.

President Donald Trump's top flack then followed up two months later, tweeting a Wall Street Journal story about Dippin' Dots filing for bankruptcy.

In 2015, he was back at battling Dippin' Dots, this time to complain about the company running out of its vanilla flavor at a Nationals game.

"We've seen your tweets and would like to be friends rather than foes", Dippin' Dots CEO Scott Fischer wrote in an open letter. "We'll make sure there's plenty of all your favorite flavors".

As you may or may not know, Dippin' Dots are made in Kentucky by hundreds of hard working Americans in the heartland of our great country.

"We hear that's on your agenda too", the letter says.
