"NOOK Tablet 7" Chargers Are Being Recalled By Barnes & Noble

In a press release today, B&N has announced the recall of the power adapters supplied with the Nook Tablet 7 due to their faulty construction causing them to fall apart, posing a threat to someone getting electrocuted. That includes accessories, which is where the issue apparently lies for the new Barnes & Noble Nook 7.

Barnes & Noble is about to do some damage control. When the fault with the adapter was discovered last month, Barnes & Noble told owners to stop using it until a replacement could be provided. The company is issuing a recall not on the tablet, but the power adapter that it comes with. The potentially unsafe charger will bear the model number TPA-95A050100UU, while the tablet itself is marked with the model number BNTV450. If you're unsure of which Nook you have, these chargers were bundled with the model BNTV450. Register online for a free replacement adapter along with a $5 Barnes and Noble gift card. Simply use a USB cable and charge it through your computer. You'll be prompted to print a prepaid UPS shipping label to return your recall adapter, after which point a replacement will be mailed out.

The devices were sold from November 2016 to January 2017. No injuries or explosions have been reported yet but the company already received four reports of the adapter breaking.

This recall was conducted, voluntarily by the company, under CPSC's Fast Track Recall process.
