In the same MWC event held previous year, the company had announced two new smartwatches, namely Venus 1 and the Venus 2, but these two devices are mainly activity trackers.
According to an earlier report by prolific leaker Evan Blass, Google will soon be revealing the first two smartwatches that will be powered by Android Wear 2.0, the latest version of the company's operating system for wearable devices. Google's updated smartwatch platform has finally arrived, with a duo of lead devices - the LG Watch Sport and the LG Watch Style - signalling a new era. In the same article, both the LG Watch Sport and Watch Style will likely debut the Google Assistant. According to the listed specs, the LG Watch Style (or LG-W270, as is printed on the retail packaging) sports a 1.2-inch display with a 360x360 P-OLED display. Android Pay's new payment feature for smartwatches will function if the wearable includes the Near Field Communication (NFC) chip. You can now personalize your Android Wear always-on watch face with information and actions from your favorite apps. The new LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style are expected to launch in Canada, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Taiwan, U.K, and UAE in the coming weeks.
We saw one of the first devices to ship with Android Wear 2.0 at CES 2017 in the form of the Casio WSD-F20. This smartwatch looks like any other watch in the market with its circular design and a single button on the side.
The LG Watch Style is described as "thin, light, lovely to look at, and comfortable to wear".
Google has unveiled the next generation of its smartwatches with the launch of Android Wear 2.0. In addition to tracking pace, distance, calories and heart rate (in watches with a heart rate sensor) the app also measures reps for weight-lifting and some body weight exercises like push-ups, sit-ups and squats. It boasts full compatibility with Verizon's LTE network, too, meaning the Wear24 can make and receive phone calls and texts without the need for a smartphone. The Sport offers cellular connectivity, GPS, and NFC.
According to the leakster, the two new Google watches will go on sale 9 February in the USA and are called the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style.
