These make it easy and fun to invite friends to hang out with you offline. However, that wasn't enough to scare away the company that kept innovating while sticking to its original concept- letting users share images and videos that disappear in 24 hours. Snapchat had it first, then Instagram got it, then WhatsApp, and now Messenger.
Snap a quick selfie or take a photo or video of what's around you. There is also the option to delete the photo or video if you so choose. Here's everything you need to know about the new feature, including how it works, how it compares to Snapchat, and when it'll be available for everyone to use.
Messenger Day puts a slight twist on the slideshow format with filters and art that appears created to ignite more conversations on Messenger.
Facebook on 9 March announced a new feature in its Messenger mobile app.
"Messenger Day", rolling out globally to Android/iOS users today, allows users to post photos and video that disappear after 24 hours - not just a shoring up of the camera as central to the social-media experience, but derivative of the Snapchat (SNAP +0.8%) Stories feature.
In that sense, it is much like Snapchat and ephemeral in nature. Alternatively, you can tap on the "Add to your day" button at the top of Messenger inbox. Can you blame them?
Messenger Day (and WhatsApp Status, to a degree) represents an opportunity for Facebook to start monetizing Messenger.
First make sure you've updated your Messenger app so you have the latest version.
Open Messenger and tap on the camera. Your settings will apply to everything you post to that day, so if you've selected a limited audience but decide later you want to share something with everyone, you'll have to wait until the next day.
From your camera, capture a photograph or video and select the smiley face icon in the top right corner to add art and effects to the footage captured.
Add any text or draw on the picture.
Here's how to find Messenger Day, how to watch your friends posts, use its filters and see if it's right for you.
"Since everything you add disappears after 24 hours, feel free to add as often as you want". You can also choose to make your "My Day" story private for people.

Whether Messenger Day is the answer to Facebook's problem remains to be seen. With Messenger Day you cannot only share your images and videos with your friends but you can also view what they shared.
To choose certain people who can see your Day, tap the Profile icon, tap My Day, tap Custom, and then choose who can see your day.
