President Donald Trump fell several spots n the rankings to No. 544 with assets of $3.5 billion from his television and real estate holdings.
Amancio Ortega: Ortega co-founded the hugely successful high street Spanish retail chain Zara, and now boasts a net worth of $74 billion.
The number of United States billionaires on the list was 565, which Forbes attributed to the recent stock market surge since Mr Trump's November 2016 election.
Microsoft founder and philanthropist Bill Gates topped the list for the fourth time in a row with a net worth of $112 billion. Bezos' net worth surged by $27.6 billion to $72.8 billion, lofting him to third place among the world's richest.
Facebook's co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, took the fifth spot with a net worth of $56 billion.
"We list individuals rather than multigenerational families who share large fortunes, though we include wealth belonging to a billionaire's spouse and children if that person is the founder of the fortune", the magazine says.

Breaking up the numbers, 1,371 members of the list were self-made billionaires; 238 inherited their wealth; while another 434 inherited at least a portion but are still growing it. Their average net worth is $3.75 billion, which means Trump is not even worth as much as the "average" billionaire.
Trump has disputed Forbes' estimates in the past, particularly regarding the worth of his brand which - unlike real estate - is more hard to value.
The top 20 billionaires have a combined net worth of $938.4 billion, up from $826.5 billion in 2016.
The U.S. continues to have more billionaires than any other nation, with a record 565.
