Ambushed by the wiles of debutant leg-spinner Shadab Khan at Kensington Oval, the West Indies will be aiming to execute much better against the teenager and his Pakistan teammates in the second of the four-match Twenty20 global series today.
West Indies and Afghanistan have never played an ODI against each other and the last time they squared up in a T20I, Afghanistan won by six runs, in a league match in the World T20 past year.
Pakistan introduced newcomer Fakhar Zaman following the outstanding debut performance in Barbados of leg-spinner Shadab Khan, who took the Man of the Match award with figures of three for seven. Catch live cricket score of the West Indies vs Pakistan 2nd T20I from Port of Spain here.
Pakistan's start was quite sluggish, losing opener Kamran Akmal in the first over for no run on the board.
Pakistan made one change, with allrounder Mohammad Hafeez dropping out for batsman Fakhar Zaman, who was given his worldwide cap.
Shoaib Malik took 15 off Brathwaite's second over, but the latter got him in his third, out for 27 off 20 balls. West Indies will be hoping to climb up the rankings as only the top eight teams as of September end this year will gain automatic qualification for the 2019 World Cup. But Wahab Riaz got the wicket of Brathwaite on the second delivery of the penultimate over to pull back things for Pakistan.
West Indies: Carlos Brathwaite (capt), Samuel Badree, Jonathan Carter, Andre Fletcher, Jason Holder, Evin Lewis, Jason Mohammed, Sunil Narine, Veerasammy Permaul, Kieron Pollard, Rovman Powell, Marlon Samuels, Lendl Simmons, Jerome Taylor, Chadwick Walton (wk), Keswick Williams.
West Indies slumped to 77-5.
Pakistan won its sixth straight T20, five of them at the West Indies' expense.
