"With its intelligent interface and contextual awareness, Bixby will make your phone more helpful by assisting in completing tasks, telling you what you're looking at, learning your routine and remembering what you need to do", a Samsung spokesperson said.
Existing AI tools like Siri, Cortana, Alexa, and Google Assistant can't perform such actions, a key differentiator for Bixby.
According to Samsung, Bixby Voice won't be available on the Galaxy S8 until later this Spring.
Bixby Vision, an image recognition functionality, will work on the devices that are initially shipped, as will Home (a new screen with dynamic cards) and Reminders, all of which are based on Bixby's AI capabilities.
Bixby Voice is more than just another feature for Samsung's voice assistant. Bixby was reportedly developed using Samsung's in-house technology, but updates will incorporate Viv's features and tech. Samsung is "proudly" claiming that Bixby is the most intelligent virtual assistant on the market yet, capable of performing tasks that other virtual assistants can not.
One of the Galaxy S8 line's highly anticipated features is the Bixby.
The Samsung's voice assistant Bixby is the latest in the group of mobile AI or digital assistants.
But delaying Bixby Voice may be a sign the company learned from the Note 7 crisis.
Many people even believe that unveiling a half-baked Bixby is Samsung's desperate attempt to enter the voice assistant fray, especially after it bought Viv, a start-up founded by Siri's original creators, to boost its efforts in AI.
Worse news for Samsung, is Google's own Google Assistant will be present, and working in the same way it does on other compatible smartphones.
Last year, Samsung acquired startup Viv Labs in an effort to build its expertise in AI assistants.
There is still no word on when the Bixby voice feature will go live in other markets across the world.
The Galaxy S8 will have Bixby on April 21, of course.
