After a long and wonderful life, my Mom, Virginia Anderson, passed away on Monday, May 8, at the age of 97 in Topeka. She led a movement to observe Mother's Day and on May 10, 1908, she held a public service at Andrews Methodist Church, the place where her mother taught Sunday School for 25 years. "M" is for the million things she gave me.
I am sure this is the case with many others who have lost their mothers through the years.
If you think about it, there is no mother without a child, and there's the value of motherhood, and we're not merely relating to biology.
God bless all mothers and grandmothers everywhere. Julia Ward Howe inspired the first movement towards a mother's day during the Civil War. As their children, let us show them our appreciation and love of the priceless sacrifice they have done every day since we are born.
Get rid of your old expectations and create new rituals for your family to prepare and celebrate your motherhood.
Write a short story about you and mom and share it.
For those grieving their mother's death: "As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you, says the Lord". Make up a special day of your own when you can celebrate missed birthdays, Mother's Day, Easter, Christmas etc.
I believe in love at first sight for you are the first person I saw when I opened my eyes and had loved you since that day dear mom. I love being their mom.
The highlight was Sunday dinner. And so what better way to honor her than with a gift that empowers other mothers and girls, too? The simple notion that there are thousands even millions of people just like me saddened me but it also made me feel a bit of comfort knowing that I'm not alone.
"I actually want to be with my family on Mother's Day", commented Michelle Daoust of Mobile, "and maybe have an hour or two to do a little shopping".
It might be roast beef, cooked in a large cast-iron pot along with potatoes and carrots and celery and onions. Please join me for my next class at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 24. When we are 45, we say, "I wonder what mom would have thought about it". I will always be your child, so train me to be as thoughtful and understanding as you are. "They can come", she said. Or her delectable coconut cream or lemon meringue pies.
Still, it won't be the same this year - nothing ever will be, of course, after you lose your Mom. International Business Times, India asked viewers to vote for the best gift you would like to give your mom on Mother's Day.
