Kristaps is spending the off-season back in his native Latvia, and Janis met with Jackson in his stead. The report adds this meeting accomplished very little.
As of late last week, no member of the organization had spoken directly with Porzingis since he skipped the meeting, ESPN reported.
Janis Porzingis was unavailable for comment. Longstaff played a crucial role in player development, as evidenced by his work with the likes of Porzingis, Willy Hernangomez, and Mindaugas Kuzminskas.
Janis also serves as his brother's agent, so the meeting was created to get the two parties on the same page as they look to the future.
While this may just be meant to send a message or gross incompetence (teams usually try to keep their stars happy), there's a chance more is happening here from Jackson and New York's brain trust. There is no question about it. NY endured another frustrating season, with Porzingis among several Knicks who dealt with injuries amid a lot of losing and controversy surrounding Carmelo Anthony's status with the team. "If he were traded, he would play out his contract and head into free agency, where he can choose his own destiny". "It's unclear what they specifically discussed but Kristaps' discontent with the organization's dysfunction turned public after the 21-year-old passed on attending his exit meeting last month".
Knicks power forward Kristaps Porzingis controls the ball against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 25, 2016, at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
Now preparing for his third NBA season, all of which have come in the "Big Apple", Porzingis was originally selected by the Knicks with the No. 4 overall pick in the first round of the 2015 NBA Draft. He is viewed by many around the league as a potential franchise cornerstone.
