Heinz has a #NationalHotDogDay workaround for Chicago's no-ketchup shaming

July 19th is officially been dubbed National Hot Dog Day, which means freebies and deals coming your way.

There are plenty of great food-centric holidays to celebrate in July.

Burger King: Their grilled dogs are just 79 cents all month long. The caveat? They're charging $1.50 if it's ordered with ketchup.

The video features a Chicago native putting Heinz Chicago Dog Sauce on his hot dog. And in Chicago, they get chopped white onions, bright green sweet pickle relish, as well as a dill pickle spear, pickled peppers, tomatoes and a dash of celery salt. In fact, asking for a hot dog with ketchup at some Windy City establishments will get you an order of side eye. The Chicagoan says "Don't tell my dad about this", promptly finishing the hot dog drenched in sin sauce.

So what exactly does a hot dog contain?

Rutt's Hut was hailed by The Daily Meal for its signature Ripper, a hot dog that's fried until it rips apart. "We spent months working on that recipe", explained Robert Van Brunt, owner of Hot Dogs, Wings, Etc.
