As you may have already guessed from the name, the money used to purchase keys will fund the prize pool for PUBG's upcoming Gamescon Invitational tournament.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds console release date hasn't been officially confirmed yet so you will have to wait for the official announcement for it.
This Gamescom Invitational Crate outfit absolutely looks like Takako Chigusa's track suit. In the four months the game has been in Early Access, they have sold over 6 million copies and are at peak use activity with 422,618 players at one time on Steam. Next up for the massively popular battle royale shooter: the Gamescom PUBG Invitational Tournament, taking place in Cologne, Germany from August 23rd to the 26th.
The offline tournament will feature the top 80 PUBG players and influencers as they compete for a prize pool valued at $350,000.
The first major eSports tournament for the still unfinished "PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds" will be held next month at Gamescom. With a number of new features in development as the team at Bluehole work to bring the game to its full release, Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene sat down with Eurogamer to discuss the past, present, and future of his mod-turned-game, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.
As reported by RealGear, the next update of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds promises a FOV slider, new riffle, as well as first person servers for Europe and North America.
With the update three new crates will be available - the Wanderer and Survivor crates can be opened with in-game currency, while the rather more special Gamescom Invititational Crate will cost $2.50, with proceeds going toward host the event of the same name. We will then return to the free-to-open system. The crates are part of a fundraising initiative to help pay for its Gamescom PUBG Invitational event, not unlike Blizzard's recent War Chest for StarCraft II and Valve's Battle Pass program for DOTA 2.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is coming to the Xbox One and it has also been confirmed to support the Xbox One X hardware at launch. The contest will include Solo mode, Duo mode, Duo First Person Perspective mode and Squad mode across the four-day event, where the best overall score from three games played will determine the victor. We're getting first-person server options for NA and European Union solo and duo modes, an FOV slider for first-person, and a new rifle.
"The first and second crates, named the Wanderer Crate and the Survivor Crate, will be free to open".
