These sales numbers were revealed in their quarterly earnings report, specifically hitting 4.7 million units at the end of June.
Nintendo has sold over 4.7 million Nintendo Switch consoles since its release in March 2017. We've already got another one coming up, as Nintendo announced a Switch version of the Wii U fighting game Pokken Tournament ahead of E3 2017 last month. The report indicates nearly 4 million copies of Breath of the Wild have been sold so far, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe isn't too far behind with 3.5 million copies sold.
Video games giant Nintendo (7974.HK) swung back to profit in its most recent quarter on the back of strength in its recently launched Switch console. It will be interesting to see where the Switch goes in terms of its one-year mark.
Nintendo sold 1.97 million Switch consoles in the period from April to June but kept its sales forecast unchanged at 10 million despite heavy demand. Also, Nintendo has revealed that for the first quarter of current fiscal year 3DS has shipped 0.95 million units and 5.85 million units for software.
Nintendo's quarterly profit topped estimates as more people bought its new Switch gaming machine, lifting expectations for brisk sales during the holiday shopping period.
With the Switch still in very high demand, we shouldn't expect anything other than more good news when the next quarter results eventually appear. Also notable is that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a bit of a sales beast, especially when you consider that MK8 Deluxe is essentially a port of the Wii U version, and it came out after Zelda. In total, revenue reached $1.4 billion (up 149% on last year), translating to a profit of $190 million.
Compared to first game's 156,610 unit debut.
