Singtel unveiled the first of its "Power On" video series to support Team Singapore as they head to Kuala Lumpur to compete at the 2017 SEA Games starting tomorrow.
However, two years ago at the Sea Games in Singapore, Malaysia surrendered the gold to the hosts.
On Saturday evening, the SEA Games opening ceremony was held at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium, showcasing nearly an hour of pageantry and cultural dances, as well as light, pyrotechnics and fireworks shows.
Fans watched video messages from Malaysia's badminton and squash stars Lee Chong Wei and Nicol David, who are busy with world championships commitments, and cheered the succession of marching bands.
"We should be proud, not just with the gold-medal winning Malaysian athletes and teams".
"We're ready and raring to go and I'm very optimistic that we can surpass out second-place finish in Singapore in 2015", said Cuarto, who started guiding the Nationals in the 2007 biennial meet in Nakhon Ratchasima in Thailand.
They need to win that game and hope Malaysia lose their final two matches against Myanmar and Laos to have any hope of reaching the semi-finals.
"They will learn from the experience and be better players in two years".
Netball made its debut in the 2001 KL Games, and Malaysia won the inaugural gold by beating Singapore. "With the camaraderie and the support within our team, we can take each other to new heights", the Olympic champion stressed.
"I hope tomorrow we don't have to chase the game again, we can manage our style of play and the situation much better", explained the 46-year old trainer.
Myanmar are top of the group with nine points after three matches with one match remaining, while Malaysia are now second on six points after two matches, with two group matches remaining.
