Oil prices in the US early Monday rose 0.6% to $47.77 a barrel after reports said Saudi Arabia's oil minister held talks with Venezuela and Kazakhstan on a possible extension of an agreement to cut global oil supplies beyond March 2018.
The storm departed the Keys at 12 p.m. local time and made a second landfall at 3:35 p.m.in Marco Island, Florida, with winds gusting up to 130 miles per hour (209 km/h) and maximum sustained winds of 115 miles per hour (185 km/h), the National Hurricane Center (NHC) reported.
The storm's center was only 30 miles from Naples and on a direct path to hit it. Naples hasn't been hit by a hurricane since 1921.
As the storm loomed and came ashore, gasoline stations struggled to keep up.
Hurricane Irma has hit Florida with 200km/h winds, flooding the only road connecting the Florida Keys with the mainland and knocking out power to more than 1.6 million homes. Irma did not cause as much damage in Florida as some forecasters had feared.
Irma has completed its life cycle, downgraded from Hurricane to Tropical Storm to Tropical Depression to now Post-Tropical Cyclone. Now those winds are reaching into Broward, toppling trees and power lines.

There was no word initially about the status of two large and supposedly vulnerable nuclear power plants operated by state utility Florida Power & Light. State media reported that people took shelter in tunnels, caves and official emergency shelters.
