In 2016, we experienced an exciting reboot of The X-Files and now, one year later, the first trailer for yet ANOTHER new season has officially dropped!
Intriguing images to be sure.
The trailer for the next installment in The X-Files was released at New York Comic Con which teases the sci-fi series' upcoming return for Season 11.
The upcoming season also sees the Cigarette Smoking Man (William B. Davis) making a deal Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) just can't refuse, seemingly putting the assistant director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation at odds with Mulder and Scully.
By contrast, during the panel that followed the presentation of the trailer, Gillian Anderson has revealed that she stopped the series after this new season.
"Because it felt like it wasn't over", Anderson said. "We explore that father-son-mother relationship, and you'll see more of William than you've seen in a long time", Carter said (via TVLine).
At the epic conclusion of last season, all hope seemed lost as Mulder's life depended on whether Scully could somehow locate their son, William.
The X-Files is one of the best shows to ever grace television.
Anderson said she disagreed with an earlier statement by show creator Chris Carter, who said he made a decision to return to The X-Files because Anderson and Duchovny wanted to do it. Yep, X-Philes get ready to rejoice, because we now have an official trailer for X-Files season 11! I'm back for the season 11 because I thought that we had not finished. The hour will be directed by Carol Baker, and the script was penned by Gabe Rotter, a onetime X-Files writers' assistant.
"I think it's over for me".
"Obviously something unexpected has happened", Carter says cryptically in the first look of the season from Entertainment Weekly.
