But, it's not acceptable when Google Pixel 2 XL gets gray dead pixels in just one week! The buyers of smaller Pixel 2 with AMOLED display have not complained of any such issue. That means no external storage.
"We take all reports of issues very seriously, and our engineers investigate quickly", Mario Queiroz, Google's vice president for Pixel product management, said in an emailed statement to Reuters. At least Apple's 3D Touch functionality on the screen brings pressure sensitivity throughout the OS and to all compatible apps, but it hasn't really been a revolutionary addition to the iOS experience.
Reports of Google Pixel 2 XL screen burn-in problems are beginning to mount, less than a week after the new Android Oreo smartphone went on sale. This is something that happens when you have the same items on the screen for extended periods of time, like navigation buttons. If a static image is displayed over time in the same position, you can still see a faded version of the image permanently "burned" in to the screen. One of the major draws were the smartphones - Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, touted as the pinnacle for Android-powered mobile devices.
Burn-in is a problem that tends to affect OLED displays.
This incorporates software navigation buttons that stay in place when users move from screen to screen.
"The Pixel 2 XL screen has been designed with an advanced POLED technology, including QHD+ resolution, wide color gamut, and high contrast ratio for natural and lovely colors and renderings", Google said in a statement. Google did not immediately comment on the issues.
It seems that the issue is now limited to the 64GB Clearly White model of the Pixel 2, for those using Google's online store. Instead, the appearance changes depending upon what's on the screen. We're expecting similar complaints will be shared but we're hoping Google releases a quick, if not permanent fix soon.
Google has said that it is looking into the reports, which have been shared on social media by people reviewing Google's flagship smartphone. It's just too early to appear on a new unit.
