Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James told reporters Saturday that the Dallas Mavericks should be thrilled they were able to land Dennis Smith Jr.in the 2017 National Basketball Association draft. "I was thinking about the Knicks organization and Phil Jackson at the time and Dennis Smith's talent and Porzingis".
James made that pronouncement after the Cavaliers' hard-fought win over Smith and the Mavericks in Dallas on Saturday, saying, "The Knicks passed on a really good one, and Dallas got the diamond in the rough".
"I noticed a bunch of tall guys getting in the train, but I was listening to U2 and I didn't want to be filmed", Angelo said. The Knicks took umbrage to the remarks on Sunday, perceiving them as a shot at Knicks rookie Frank Ntilikina, who was selected one spot ahead of Smith. "However, it's not gonna affect us and me, so whatever is said, whatever people think, me and the team are just focused on what we're doing every day to improve and just to make us better".
Hours before their Monday night game against the Knicks, LeBron James and his Cavaliers teammates faced a decision after their shootaround at Madison Square Garden. I'm just stating facts, that's all.
There has been bad blood between James and Jackson since the former Knicks exec called James' business associates "a posse" in an ESPN interview last season.
Smith Jr.is averaging 14.8 points and 4.9 assists per game in 12 games - all starts - for the Mavericks (2-12).
"I don't care, it doesn't matter LeBron or whoever it is". In 10 games, Ntilikina, who comes off the bench, is averaging 4.4 points, 5.0 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals. It's all about me and it's all about the team. James and the Cavaliers play the Knicks on Monday night. "I have to prove to the team", Ntilikina said.
