A pair of Martinas Geben free throws with 2.3 seconds to play capped a dramatic 67-66 comeback victory for No. 13/12 Notre Dame in tournament's championship game, Wednesday evening at the Lahaina Civic Center.
The 6-foot-10 senior forward, fouled on an inbounds play with the Irish down 66-65, stepped to the foul line 6-for-10 on the season, but made both attempts - his first hung on the rim for a while.
After another 1:35, it didn't seem like the Irish would even have an opportunity for a third chance.
Bonzie Colson - the ACC's preseason player of the year - tallied 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Irish. "Bonzie was right there. You just never give up and you've got to play hard until the horn sounds".

But the Irish weren't out.

The Silverswords' last win in the Maui Jim Maui Invitational was in 2012 against Texas. They got a lot of run outs for easy baskets that really hurt us.
The Shockers looked to have the game secured from the start after taking and maintaining an early lead.
Chaminade came out on a mission, knocking down threes and shooting 53 percent from behind the arc in the first half. But the Shockers defense played the Irish tough on the perimeter, forcing Notre Dame's offense to score on tough shots in the paint and also forcing it into six turnovers. Gibbs and Rex Pflueger combining for one point.
WSU still led by a dozen near the 12-minute mark of the second half and by nine with 7:03 remaining but managed just four more points the rest of the way.
"Their [man-to-man] stuff is so downhill".

Brey strolled into the room wearing a lei and no shirt and started flexing with the No. 13 Irish. But Brown delivered a career-high four three-pointers and scored a team-high 14 points. "We said we wanted to have our name up on this wall". Then, [Colson] came off it. "We have great scorers on our team and we have great guys that can shoot the ball".
ABOUT NOTRE DAME (5-0): LSU entered Tuesday's matchup riding high following a 77-75 win over MI, but the Tigers fell behind early and were outclassed by the Fighting Irish, who shot 51.6 percent from the field and 15-of-32 from 3-point range.
Against the Silverswords (3-2), the Irish shot almost 54 percent from the floor and forced 12 turnovers en route to an 83-56 win.
Farrell chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. WSU head coach Gregg Marshall said. "We really played well on both ends of the floor. I just have to find a different way to contribute". We have a lot of fun with each other. "I love those guys in my locker room, and we're going to win our share of these". Since we were coming here, we've been on a mission.
