When someone on Twitter called out Google for the cheese placement in the cheeseburger emoji, it sparked a little debate on whether cheese should be over or under the patty. So there you have it. Google has tackled some very real first world problems for you in Android 8.1. While Android Oreo 8.1 doesn't have a lot that's changed, Google CEO Sundar Pichai asked the team to "drop everything" to solve the issue. Well, he kept his word.
Google's new emoji are being released in the new Android 8.1 software update, which is expected to roll out to devices in December - but those who've waited far too long for this moment already can check them out in the beta Developer Preview.
The second one, the clinking beer glass emoji, had the same mistake.
Everyone knows the cheese normally goes on top of the patty, including Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, Facebook and Twitter, with any real-life adjustment of the classic recipe bound to cause widespread panic, riots and maybe even a full-on food war. The emoji used in Android had the cheese slice placed at the last, something which was incorrect.
Besides, Google has also refreshed a few more emojis.
So finally the great Android Burger Emoji Crisis of the year is over, now its time for Apple to get into the game, which puts lettuce on the bottom of their burger. Another emoji that has been fixed is of the cheese, which now has refined edges on the holes and readjusted colour tone. The "beer" emoji now has two full mugs of beer with froth on top, unlike its previous version with half-filled mugs with the froth on top.
