There's also a Joker/Harley standalone film in development, rumors that Robbie will voice Harley in the upcoming animated series for DC's digital platform, and now her own standalone Harley project, which she casually alluded to working on for the past two years. "Honestly, I don't think anyone knows what's going to be the next thing to happen, but I think everyone is keen to get Harley back onscreen so everyone is working on lots of different versions of what that could be". "I mean it's hard to kinda talk about it because all this stuff is under lock and key, but yeah I've been working on a separate spin-off for Harley for a while now".
Robbie's personal vision for Harley's next step is one that could fit either a solo movie or Gotham City Sirens, as it turns out.
On what she wants to see in these movies: "I want to see her with other women". Because of that, they are working on more than one project and seeing what comes of it. Robbie prefers to see Quinn in a film along with other female heroes/villains. And when she was pressed on whether this is the same project as either Gotham City Sirens or the Harley/Joker movie, she was firm: "No".
Earlier that day, Margot stunned in a navy dress while she promoted her new movie I, Tonya.
Now, she's speaking out about the potential for giving the beloved villain a "lady gang" to fill the void she felt the first film left behind.
Robbie also says her Harley film will give the character some much-needed female friendships - a new squad, if you will.
What do you make of Robbie's comments on her Harley Quinn spin-off? There's a lot going on right now. No one actually cares about Harley Quinn or wants to see Warner Bros. ruin more iconic comic book characters. "I was like, 'She needs her girlfriends'". Is this something you're excited for?
