The assistant boys' soccer coach at Fort White High School was found in Syracuse with 17-year-old Caitlyn Frisina in the passenger seat of his vehicle. Police charged Rian Rodriguez as a fugitive of justice.
Caitlyn Frisina, 17, was found safe Friday in a vehicle in Syracuse with Rian Rodriguez, who is a family friend and assistant soccer coach at her Florida high school, authorities said.
Authorities are reportedly on their way to Syracuse to take Rodriguez back to Florida. It wasn't immediately clear what criminal charges he would face.
Scarlett Frisina called friends of her missing daughter and "discovered she is possible in a relationship with her assistant soccer coach Rian Rodriquez", according to an affidavit.
Authorities say the girl was found in high school soccer coach's vehicle.
Frisina also told CBS News he blamed himself when his daughter vanished because he had initially encouraged Rodriguez to apply for the coaching job. The officer pulled the auto over and took Rodriguez into custody without incident, the sheriff's office said. The Columbia County Sheriff's Office in Florida says the girl, who had been missing since Saturday, was detained, and Rodriguez was taken into custody.
"It's been hard. I'm glad to have my daughter back where I know I can protect her and keep her safe, as a father always wants to do", said Caitlyn's father, Ward Frisina. The teen was spotted at a pawn shop in SC with a man believed to be Rodriquez.
Frisina's friend told police that the teen had cold feet about trip but didn't know how to handle it. She had last been seen at her home the night before. "We just want you to know we love you and miss you, we need to know you are safe", mom Scarlet Frisina said. The teen is back in Lake City, Florida with her family who is relieved to have her back.
Officials at Fort White High School suspended Rodriguez. Rodriguez and Frisina had been around each other "at sports events, but they've never been alone at all", Smith said.
A teenager from Florida has been reunited with her parents, a week after she went missing. He said Frisina has family in NY and Rodriguez has family in Canada and possibly Pennsylvania.
