Conyers' attorney Arnold Reed told the Detroit Free Press Grubbs' allegations are "another instance of tomfoolery from the mouth of Harvey Weinstein's attorney".
He also endorsed his son, John Conyers III, to replace him in his congressional seat.

He also was accused of harassment by ethics lawyer Melanie Sloan and sexual harassment by former staff member Deanna Maher. That was followed up by calls for resignation by three of the other four Democratic members of the U.S. House from Michigan - Reps. "This goes with the issue of politics, the game of politics which we're in". "I think we have to recognize and be able to hold the dueling possibilities that somebody can be a great man and have done great things for our country and for civil rights but also have done bad things that require accountability".
"Whatever they are they are not accurate, they are not true, and I think that they are something that I can't explain where they came from", said Rep. Conyers.
Republican congressman Joe Barton separately announced last week he would not seek re-election after a nude photograph of him taken while he was separated from his wife circulated online. Another woman alleges she was sacked by Conyers after she rejected his advances and subsequently settled a wrongful dismissal claim with the congressman. I'm a co-sponsor on all of them.
