That's the news coming out of Netflix this afternoon, after the online giant confirmed that six new episodes - six bleak, technology-driven nightmares - will be available to consume from December 29th. The "reality is an episode of Black Mirror" refrain is still relevant in these surreal times-most recently, people have been getting weird vibes from the wildly popular iPhone game HQ Trivia. It's an episode that snuck up on even the most die-hard Black Mirror fans with its story of everlasting love that lived beyond our mortal realm thanks to advanced computer simulations. What's more surprising is that the new season will be out before the year ends.
Here are the episode titles and cast lists for each Season 4 episode. The tagline is "Memories can be subjective", and apparently so can trailers. This is season 4's only "relationship" episode, but it doesn't reach the same ecstatic heights as season 3's Emmy-winning standout "San Junipero".
"Everything happens for a reason", says the Siri-like voice from "Hang the DJ", a story that finds Georgina Campbell and Joe Cole portraying a young couple who are only given 12 hours together by "the system". Her two companions are somehow injured, and the episode follows her as she flees across the apocalyptic Scottish countryside.
- Black Museum, directed by Colm McCarthy (The Girl with All the Gifts) and starring Douglas Hodge (The Night Manager, Catastrophe), Letitia Wright (Humans, Ready Player One), Babs Olusanmokun (Roots, The Defenders).
So that's a lot to grapple with, but you have a few weeks to do it in, before everything is released.
