The changes aren't just cosmetic, the developers hope the new map will "create a new Battle Royale experience where the old strategies may no longer work and new tactics are required".
In a blog post on the PUBG Steam page, PUBG Corporation revealed that Miramar, is a new desert environment that has been designed in "the opposite direction" to PUBG's original map, Erangel, replacing that map's lush greenery with a desert terrain and densely-populated urban areas. The densest developed area is Los Leones, the map's largest city with high vantage points to secure and abandoned buildings to loot.
The PUBG Xbox One version officially launches on December 12 through the Game Preview program.
The map is named Miramar, and will feature some weapons and vehicles exclusive to it that won't be found on the game's original map, including a Win 94 Rifle and a hefty looking pick-up truck.
El Pozo is a city known for its large industrial and entertainment districts.
The map features a number of landmarks including a motorcycle death bowl, a colorful coastal town, and plenty of the shipping containers that players will know and love from the existing map. Ramshackle walls built to protect its residents now allow players ample cover to explore the well-stocked compound. Here players will find checkpoints and barriers, the town also has various overlooks, so players attempting to enter will need to look out for enemy players controlling the way in. Aggressive players will immediately loot the Arena and Casino, but savvy players should check out the 4 story hotels between them.
