Eric Weddle picked him off to end their third offensive series and mark the fourth straight game that the Ravens' safety picked off a Browns QB. They will clinch a playoff spot by beating the Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals in Baltimore the final two weeks regardless what the other contenders do.
The Browns (0-14) went 0-8 at home - 0-7 in Cleveland, 0-1 in London - for the second time and must win at either Chicago or Pittsburgh to avoid joining the 2008 Detroit Lions in the notorious 0-16 club.
The Ravens won the game 27-10. Falling behind by seven, even though there was an entire half to play, gave Jackson the excuse he need to abandon the run, and the Browns first three drives of the second half consisted of seven plays (five of them called pass plays) that netted two yards of offense and a Baltimore touchdown on the Kizer fumble. The Ravens, who entered the game ranked second in turnover-margin at plus-13, came up with nine turnovers in two games against the Browns.
The Browns responded quickly.
On the Browns next possession, running back Isaiah Crowell ran for 59 yards. Duke Johnson capped the 5-play, 96-yard drive with a 12-yard TD run that saw him take a step to the right before bouncing it left and walking in to the endzone for a 7-3 lead with 8:12 to play in the half.
The Browns' lead did not last long.
The Ravens were driving down the field and looked poised to increase their lead. The Ravens lead the National Football League with 33 takeaways and rank second only to the with five defensive touchdowns. Johnson and Kizer chipped away at the stingy Ravens' defense for a few more before Johnson found the end zone on a 12-yard run.
A 43-yard field goal by Justin Tucker in the final seconds of the third quarter made the score 27-10. Brandon Williams then fell on the ball for a relatively easy big-man touchdown. Nor is it safe for anyone who advocates Kizer as a long-term solution at quarterback for the Browns. He has thrown 19 interceptions and lost six fumbles. His three defensive stops were his most in a single game since the Week 12 win over Houston and he picked up two hurries (his first multi-pressure game since Week 11) and a batted pass that nearly turned into an interception for Terrell Suggs, but for DeShone Kizer's intervention. The Browns waived CB Darius Hillary and promoted DB C.J. Smith from the practice squad.
