At Olympic National Park, visitor services and the road to Hurricane Ridge will be closed.
National parks will remain open during the government shutdown.
Yosemite National Park will be open if a federal government shutdown occurs tonight, although some services like ranger walks and museums will discontinue.
CBS19 visited the Rockfish Gap entrance on Saturday, to find no park rangers manning the pay station. The road between the North and Northeast Entrances will remain open.
Xanterra Parks & Resorts will continue operating facilities like the Old Faithful Snow Lodge and the Mammoth Hotel, which are now open for the winter season. Guided snowmobile trips with commercial operators will be allowed, however, non-commercially guided snowmobile trips will not be allowed during the shutdown. If conditions become unsafe at any time, roads and/or developed areas in the park will be closed.
This Jan. 15 letter of resignation from members of the National Park System Advisory Board was sent to Secretary Ryan Zinke, U.S. Department of Interior, by Tony Knowles, chair of the board from 2010 to 2017 and governor of Alaska from 1994 to 2002.
Visitors in campgrounds will not be asked to leave, but no services will be available, including check-in/check-out services.
As the 2013 shutdown dragged on, Republicans accused then-President Barack Obama of turning away park visitors out of "spite", while the Democratic administration criticized Republicans for the shutdown and said it was following the law. The Parks may decide to restrict access to some areas if there is a high risk (example avalanche) or it's a common spot for injuries since there will not be a regular patrol of the area.
In Florida, the western entrance to Everglades National Park was closed but boat tours were still operating, the Naples Daily News reported.
"Gates would be open and people could enter, but there would be virtually no staff on hand to protect them or the parks' resources".
Affects of the government shutdown are already being felt in our area. During the shutdown, the park will not update its social media accounts or website. "There are no restroom facilities open, there is no trash removal and there's no place to get visitor information".
Devils Tower National Monument: Access is unavailable.
Bison hunting on the National Elk Refuge will continue as scheduled through January 31, 2018. The Jackson Hole & Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center is closed and visitors are encouraged to stop into the Home Ranch Welcome Center in Jackson, located at 210 N. Cache Street, for sleigh ride tickets and shuttle services.
U.S.F.S.: Access is not restricted on U.S.F.S. land, but services will be unavailable with the exception of limited emergency services.
One of the most indelible images of the 2013 government shutdown was the signs posted outside major landmarks and parks announcing their closure.
The Interior Department, which oversees all national parks in D.C. and everywhere else, is promising that "National Parks and other public lands will remain as accessible as possible".
"This is our public land, and we should be able to use it any time we want", she said. Pit-style bathrooms (typically in the back country) will remain open.
