A one-two winter storm punch that started Friday - stretching from Montana through the Rockies, Plains and upper Midwest - will dump more snow and freezing rain through much of the northern tier of country this weekend. Another 1-3 inches of snow is expected on Saturday.

Chilly weather is going to accompany the storm. With diminished snow/flurries and temperatures in the 20s Friday afternoon, melting will be minimal on untreated roads and streets, making driving still slow and hard in many areas.
Slide-offs and crashes were reported on the roads early Friday in the Chicago and Detroit areas. Still, the city experienced dozens of vehicle crashes Thursday evening and early Friday.
Chicago Public Schools announced shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday that classes will be canceled on Friday for all students. Schools across MI also cancelled classes.
