"It's 50/50 now because before, most of the really good players were on teams in the West, so the game wasn't as fair as it could've been". Second, Lonzo Ball and Malcolm Brogdon aren't ranked because they won't be playing in the game. This will be followed by the NBA All-Star Rising Stars game which takes place on the same night and will be televised at 9 pm ET on TNT. Here are the player rankings.
Headlined by an NBA-tying record four NBA All-Stars, more alumni than any other school, United Kingdom will touch almost every part of All-Star weekend. Imagine the reaction of the player who got picked last, or a Warriors or Cavaliers teammate passed over by Curry or James for another player.
Saturday entails the meat and potatoes of All-Star weekend. It all starts with the skills challenge where players use their passing, dribbling and shooting skills to maneuver through a basketball obstacle course in the quickest duration of time they can. The all-star will begin on February 18 at 8 p.m. The contest features Eric Gordon of the Rockets, who won the contest a year ago. Redick back in the 3-point contest if he returns next season?
The third and final contest on Saturday night will be the Verizon Slam Dunk Contest, the average fan's favorite part of All-Star weekend. The young guys take the game a little more seriously than the jaded All-Stars, and there's still plenty of athleticism to go around for cool dunks and highlight moments. Rookies Donovan Mitchell of Utah and Dennis Smith Jr., and Indiana All-Star Victor Oladipo round out the field.
Rather than dividing the two All-Star teams up by conference like they've done for decades, the NBA chose to allow two of its best players-LeBron James and Steph Curry-to hold an NBA All-Star draft to determine which players would play on which teams. The replacement has to be a player from the same conference as the one who is unable to play.
But here's the rub: James' replacement players - Paul George, Andre Drummond, Goran Dragic and Kemba Walker - are all quite talented, and the National Basketball Association has sweetened the pot. However, fans were allowed to vote once per day, every day while the voting window was open, drastically skewing the votes.
The one issue many people had with the All-Star draft, though, was that it wasn't televised.
