Paying bills is always tedious, be it offline or online, but the hassles are now reduced to seconds of paying bills if you are using Tez. Google has also included a feature that will help Tez users pay recurring bills like the ones for internet, water or even electricity bills. Unlike other apps like PayTm and PhonePe, the Tez didn't offer a choice to pay utility bills that is until now. The app also supports multiple payment accounts, TechCrunch reported today. Once done, a list of supported billers on Tez across locations will be presented to you or, if you like, you can manually search for them by name. Once users have located their biller, all they need to do is enter the number associated with their account to link it to Google Tez. Google is also allowing users to select a biller by name. Just downlad Tez, setup an account, enter card or bank details, and then add your utilities to be paid. More than 70 utilities and direct-to-home services are on board to accept bill payments, and the feature will roll out to users over the next few weeks. The new experience lets you go through this method only once.
"We'll start with support for more than 80 billers, including national and state electricity providers, gas and water, and DTH recharge".
The app has added telecom companies such as Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL and MTNL as well as insurance firms like SBI Life, Bharti Axa Life and ICICI Prudential Life as billers. This has been rolled out across all Indian states and major metro cities. Whats more, with every bill payment you stand a chance to win up to Rs 1,000 via a scratch card. The user can then tap on whichever company's bill they need to pay. Tez's entry into this category is expected to disrupt the space as higher incentives will see one set of users changing loyalties to gain additional discounts.
"Tez users continue to earn interest from their banks and have their deposits backed by bank security guarantees".
