Last October, the country went insane when McDonald's released its famous Szechuan Sauce - but in a very limited way.
On Thursday, the fast-food chain announced that every McDonald's location across the USA will start serving Szechuan nugget sauce on Monday, February 26. 20 MILLION CUPS spread across all US McD's!
McDonald's then reintroduced the sauce in October, but its release was clouded by chaos at stores as fans protested over a lack of supply. As you might recall, the sweet and sour condiment caused a stroke of trouble across the country back in October when locations didn't have enough supply to meet the demand. It could only feasibly produce a certain amount of packets in time for the promotion it wanted to pair Szechuan sauce alongside. McDonald's seem to be more organized and aware of the true might of the Rick & Morty fanbase. By the end of the episode, he seems to go insane as he tells Morty that he will one day get more of the precious Szechuan sauce.
In the show, time-traveling scientist Rick Sanchez admitted that his sole motivation in life is "finding that McNugget sauce" - and that the cult show would continue as long as it takes until he finds the sauce. The next day, McDonald's had to offer fans an apology online.
The dramatic narrative opens, "You're listening to the Sauce, an investigative podcast by McDonald's, Gizmodo and Onion Labs". Some customers were so upset that police had to be called to locations.
After the Szechuan wars resulted in plenty of complaints being thrown at McDonald's, the fast food chain vowed to make it right by making infinitely more Szechuan sauce available so that everyone could get their hands on it.
