"It sounds like Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is daydreaming when he says Afrin will fall tonight", Redur Khalil told AFP.
Erdogan reiterated that in the Turkish-led counter-terrorist operation, the utmost care is being taken to avoid harming civilians, and that if they had not done so, the operation would have been over by now.
The Turkish military said the siege of Afrin began on Monday after the military took control of "critical areas".
Erdogan also said civilians in Afrin town were being escorted in cars through an evacuation corridor, as Turkish forces made substantial advances against Kurdish fighters in their almost two-month-old offensive.
Ankara is riled by United States support and arming of the Kurds, and accuses Washington of not fulfilling a promise to move the Syrian Kurdish fighters in Manbij east of the Euphrates River.
Erdogan has repeatedly said that Afrin should be cleared of "terrorists", and demanded the deployment of Turkish troops there during a speech back in November 2016.
Turkey has been "a key partner in the fight against ISIS [Daesh] here for a long period of time, and we do recognize they have legitimate concerns with security along their border from terrorism". They did this all together as coalition powers.
Turkish authorities often use the word "neutralised" in their statements to imply the terrorists in question either surrendered or were killed or captured.
The General staff of Turkey said that as a result of operations from March 12, 2018 managed to besiege the city of Afrin, in addition, established control over strategically important for future operations regions.
Turkey launched its operation saying it meant to clear the border of People's Protection Unit (YPG) fighters, whom they consider terrorists.
Since the launch of the operation, the Turkish military and FSA have cleared 229 locations, including five town centres, 190 villages, 39 strategic mountains and hills, and one YPG base.
Ankara views the YPG as the Syrian branch of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militant group that has been fighting for an autonomous region inside Turkey since 1984.
