Like the original Legacy Collection games, these upcoming releases will feature artwork galleries full of the art from the original release and packaging of the games. The player will be able to bring up to three extra weapon types when attempting these X Challenge stages. Today, Capcom confirmed that the Mega Man X Legacy Collection will release this summer, spread across Mega Man X Legacy Collection and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2, featuring all eight games on two separate volumes. It will be only sold physically for PS4 and Switch in Japan.
Enjoy all eight games from the futuristic Mega Man X series with Mega Man X Legacy Collection (includes X1 to X4), and Mega Man X Legacy Collection 2 (includes X5 to X8) Both collections are coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC digitally on July 24, 2018. There will also be a new mode called the "X Challenge" which is a boss rush mode with a twist where players will have to fight bosses from different games in the X series together. Since the Mega Man Legacy Collection did so well as split volumes, Capcom is repeating the formula with the X Collection.
You can purchase each collection individually for $19.99 when they release on July 24th.
Much like the original Mega Man Legacy Collection, the Switch version will just have the first on cartridge, with the second collection available via a download voucher.
Included with both collections is The Day of Σ, a video originally included with Maverick Hunter X that explores the origins of series antagonist Sigma and the rise of Mavericks while shedding additional light on the events leading up to Mega Man X. With additional leaderboard support, you'll be able to compare your best time and see how you stack up!
