The Los Angeles District Attorney is reviewing a sexual assault case against Kevin Spacey, the embattled actor accused of sexual misconduct by at least 15 young men and boys across the US and England, the Hollywood Reporter confirmed on Wednesday.
"A case was presented April 5 by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department", district attorney spokesman Greg Risling said in an email to Reuters.
Netflix announced a year ago that it had severed all ties with Spacey and that it would not be involved with any further production of "House of Cards" that included him. The third and most recent case surfaced in January; in that case, Spacey is accused of assaulting a man in 2005 in the Westminster area of London.
The DA's office recently declined to prosecute writer-director James Toback on five allegations of sexual assault because those cases fell outside the statute of limitations.
Even the Oscar-winning celebrity was sacked from the Netflix series "House of Cards" previous year afterwards which he had been accused of sexual misconduct. Rapp alleged in October that Spacey made a pass at him when he was 14 years old during a party at Spacey's NY apartment in 1986. Since then, numerous men have accused Spacey of groping them.
Spacey then went on to reveal that he is gay.
"Star Trek: Discovery" actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making a sexual advance more than 30 years ago in his NY apartment when Spacey was 26. Spacey claimed he did not recall the incident Rapp described.
Spacey released a controversial statement after Rapp's account, saying he did not remember the encounter while simultaneously coming out.
