Users can now move throughout a city, or even between them, using the Uber app.
Khosrowshahi also announced products aimed at urban planners and city officials.
While having multiple transit options in one app can be powerful for our customers, we know that alone is not enough to improve the cities we operate in.
"Having a greater variety of transportation modes at your fingertips helps make it increasingly easy to live without a vehicle", Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi wrote in a blog post Wednesday. It is unclear how much money Uber will shell out for the deal, but TechCrunch believes Jump will not be bought for less than $100 million.
Jump and Uber were previously partners and 250 red bikes - which could be picked up or dropped off anywhere using built-in Global Positioning System - have been available through the Uber app in San Francisco since the start of the year.
Update: Khosrowshahi's comments came during a transport forum.
Residents of San Francisco will soon see something new in the Uber app: the option to rent a auto.
In a partnership with car-share startup Getaround, Uber Rent connects users to nearby cars through the Uber app.
"We're going beyond cars".
"We have to solve the issue of vehicle ownership", Khosrowshahi said. "That is the package that we think is the most fair - that hits property owners, it hits visitors, it hits residents and it hits the ride-sharing services - that we think is best for the city".
Khosrowshahi said the Uber app would start including locations for electric bikes from its newly acquired bike-sharing group Jump, which now operates in Washington and San Francisco.
Users can "instantly" find privately owned cars that are available for rent in the Uber app, the firm said. Last June, San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera released information for the first time about the number of Uber and Lyft drivers estimated that 45,000 are working in the city.
Jump confirmed that the acquisition would offer Uber customers more modes of transportations which will enable people to have a life without owning a auto.
"Having a greater variety of transportation modes at your fingertips helps make it increasingly easy to live without a vehicle", Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said in a statement.
Uber drivers are not on the payrolls of the company as it works on an aggregator model.
And in another example of how the company is fashioning itself into an all-inclusive app, it announced a partnership with the transit ticketing service Masabi. Arizona had been a key hub for Uber's autonomous project, with about half of the company's 200 self-driving cars and a staff of hundreds.
Since its founding in 2009, Uber has expanded rapidly.
